Primescan 3D Digital Scan
What is intraoral scanner?
For many years, Masych Dental Clinic has been using advanced digital technologies in oral surgery, implantology, and general dentistry to make our patients’ treatment more comfortable, faster, and more precise. Regardless of the type of care provided, all procedures are performed in accordance with the latest technological standards, consistently validated by our patients’ long-term experience. This includes the most modern 3D jaw scanning available in Ivano-Frankivsk.
An intraoral scanner (IOS) is a modern device used to digitally capture the inside of the oral cavity, enabling the creation of highly accurate digital impressions in dentistry. The Primescan intraoral scanner from the American-German company Dentsply Sirona is an innovative system and one of the most advanced, precise, efficient, and user-friendly solutions available today. It captures extremely clear and precise images of teeth and soft tissues. This complex optical system was developed specifically for precise jaw and dental examination and modeling. The scanner uses multiple cameras to capture the oral cavity and is equipped with sensors that transmit the collected data to a computer, where a highly precise 3D model is generated.

The scanner’s tip glides along the dental arches without touching the teeth. Optical sensors capture the position, shape, and surface structure of the teeth and soft tissues. One of the major advantages is that the digital impression is displayed in full color, providing even greater detail and accuracy. The 3D model appears on the screen in real time. Digital impressions are captured very quickly: complete 3D scanning of the upper and lower jaw takes only a few minutes, and the models are instantly aligned to show your natural bite.
The scanning process provides the dentist with exceptionally clear images of natural teeth, restorations, implants, as well as various materials and surrounding areas. For implant specialists, this means highly accurate digital impressions of implants to plan further prosthetic work. Prosthodontists, in turn, use these digital impressions to achieve a highly accurate fit of prosthetic components to the tooth tissues.
Advantages of Primescan
The advantages of 3D scanning with Primescan include:
- Comfort during the procedure — thanks to innovative Dynamic Deep Scan technology, the dentist can capture all necessary details with light, shallow scanning passes, without the need to insert the scanner tip deeply.
- Reduced appointment time — during the procedure, the dentist only needs to guide the scanner over the necessary areas of the oral cavity. The device captures more than 50,000 images per second, and generates a full digital impression of the jaw in approximately 3 minutes.
- Access to hard-to-reach areas – high-frequency scanning allows for significantly more precise measurements than before. Using Dynamic Depth Scan technology, the scanner can capture areas up to 20 mm below the gum line. This is a crucial factor for the accurate placement of veneers and crowns under the gums, ensuring an invisible transition between the restoration and the natural tooth.
- The digital accuracy of the impression ensures a precise fit of the crown to the tooth tissues, providing high-quality results.
- Real-time visualization — a high-resolution screen allows patients to observe the jaw modeling process firsthand while receiving explanations from the dentist.
Compared to traditional impressions, patient comfort is significantly improved. Traditional bulky trays with silicone-based impression material are often perceived as uncomfortable and may provoke gag reflexes, swallowing difficulties, and unpleasant taste sensations in many patients.
We can confidently say that there is currently no more comfortable and efficient solution for both dentists and patients than Primescan.
