What is polymilk acid?
It is a common misconception that this product is an acid similar to chemical peels. However, this is not the case.It is a synthetic polymer — poly-L-lactide — produced through the polymerisation of lactic acid.Once injected into the tissues, poly-L-lactide microparticles gradually stimulate the formation of new collagen, resulting in improved skin volume, firmness, lifting effect, and elasticity.
Polylactic acid injections are currently popular at our clinic due to their numerous advantages:
- Polylactic acid preparations are hydrophobic, meaning they do not attract water, which significantly reduces the risk of swelling;
- The product does not accumulate in the body, as it gradually breaks down into carbon dioxide and water and is completely eliminated from the body;
- The preparations are biocompatible with the human body and rarely cause allergic reactions;
- Long-lasting results of the procedure.
How is the procedure
performed?
Polylactic acid injections are recommended only for approved areas of the face and body. Several hours before the procedure, the product is reconstituted with sterile water for injection to activate it. After assessing the patient’s facial condition, the physician determines the most effective injection areas.
The product is administered using a cannula with a vector lifting technique. The practitioner’s expertise is crucial, as optimal results depend on precise placement at the correct depth using well-defined vectors. Immediately after the procedure, the patient can return to their normal lifestyle, as there is no rehabilitation period. For several days, the patient will experience slight swelling due to trauma from the cannula and the injection water. Within a few days, the solution is absorbed and swelling subsides; over the following weeks, the skin gradually becomes firmer and more voluminous as new collagen forms. It is also important to note that metabolic processes are stimulated in the treated tissues, further improving overall skin quality.
